Sunita Shah graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Language Sciences (Speech and Language Therapy). With over 25 years of experience, Sunita has worked extensively with children and young people in both the National Health Service (NHS) and the private sector. Together Let's Communicate, established for over 15 years, has been successfully supporting children in Northwest London and, since 2019, in Cheshire. In 2021 Sunita was awarded, The international Woman's Day "Woman of Excellence Award", for her achievements and service to education.
Sunita has both received and delivered training at renowned institutions such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Michael Palin Centre, the Nuffield Speech Institute, and the Northern Ireland Training Institute. She has refined a wide range of clinical skills to a specialist level. Additionally, Sunita has collaborated with and supported organisations such as the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP), ICAN, Sure Start, The Communication Trust, and The Baby Centre.
Sunita has a specialist interest in bilingualism. She served as Chair of the Clinical Excellence Network in Bilingualism and has supported the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists as an advisor for the United Kingdom. Sunita's extensive knowledge and experience encompass working with clients from diverse communities, including a variety of language, cultural, and religious backgrounds. She is multilingual, with English and Gujarati as her primary languages, and has provided national training, focusing on children and families from diverse communities for schools and speech and language therapy services.
Sunita continues to provide training supporting speech, language, and communication needs, now focusing on teenagers with social, emotional, and mental health needs. She has developed a bespoke social-emotional literacy curriculum and provides training to secondary education and private educational establishments.
In addition to her clinical work, Sunita is a successful children's author, having published over twenty books and resources that have been sold internationally. Her series, known as "The Jai Jais," is widely recognised and appreciated.
